BACK TO THE ARTIST   Rocks at Belle-Ile, 1886           Details     Description     Artist Monet, Oscar-Claude Monet3„4never tired of making trips up and down the coast of Normandy stopping at the most picturesque spots. In 1882 he rented the Villa Juliette at Pourville and made it his base for visits to the surrounding areas. He painted many rock outcrop scenes, most memorably at Etretat and Falaise, but here he treats the rock structure just as he would a country landscape, by blending in the crashing white surf with the craggy pinnacles.
